I got in country the same time as Harland and I remeber him. I was there the evening that he died. I have had a lot of trouble remembering names from back then, but I remember serving in Echo Company with him. I just recently spoke to someone from our unit and that is how I got his name. That is why it took me so long to post this. I thank God for men like him who were willing to give their lives for our freedom. I will never forget the night he died. I spent the whole night awake. It was by far one of the scariest nights of my life. If there is any of his family members reading this I pray for God to give you peace and to give you comfort in dealing with your grief.

I came into vietnam with Harlan. I was wounded when Harland was killed. Along with Jose Rios. I will never forget that night. We had only been in country about 3 weeks. I remember Harlan wore a bush hat that said "only the strong survive". If someone has a photo of him I would like one. I tried to contact his family years ago but was unsuccessful.
