Question about Merritt Murray

Postby Niner Alpha » Wed Apr 07, 2010 7:36 am

Merritt Lewis Murray, Genoa NY. KIA on 10-30-1968. He was in C company. Killed in Dinh Tuong Province.

Got an email from a guy who wants to know what happened. The guy says he knows that Murray was killed by "friendly" fire, although any Wall page containing "official" shorthand notes, including ours, shows "ground casualty other explosive device, hostile" which is, from what I have learned, probably a wrong statement.

From notes received from Bruce Swander some years ago , Battalion records show that in late afternoon of 10/30/68 two men from Charlie were wounded by friendly fire. One lived and the other, Murray died before being extracted from the field. Thats all that is noted.

Anybody remember what really happened?
