That appears to be a 9th Div patch in the background, I thought everyone had switched
to the "subdued" black and OD patches by 1968.

The photo caption, "Soldier-in-Vietnam-sheds-tear"... or is it sweat???

This picture doesn't look like I would have expected Mac to look like in 1968. Looks Hispanic??

We've all changed after a lot of years. 48 years later this is what one John McIntosh, who was in Bravo in 1968 looks like. The guy on the right. Jerry White is on the left.

And... our John's wife and daughter both say that it isn't him in the photo. Case closed....except.. who is the guy in the photo? Any chance he was in the 6/31st? Tan An wouldn't have been a place the 6/31st was ever based and in 68 the 6/31st wasn't in the 3rd Brigade but in the 1st "Recondo" brigade. Tan An at least ended up the HQ for the 3rd brigade, "Go Devils", after the 6/31st was transferred to them in 69....but never the HQ for the 6/31st Battalion.
