Alpha Company Guidon

When the 6th of the 31st battalion pulled out of Ben Luc headed for deactivation, Ron Madewell was in the back of a deuce and a half and noticed the Alpha guidon still waving outside of the company HQ. He resolved that the Arvins weren't going to get it so he jumped out of the truck and rescued it. He managed to get home with it.

Wonder if the Battalion colors were left behind too? Officialdom has no idea where the battalion flag from Vietnam is today when I conducted an investigation at the time of the Branson reunion.

Looks like the sun had taken away some of it's color all those years ago.

Wonder why those guidon bearers don't have 6th Army patches on their left shoulders??
The brass was usually picky about those things for any ceremony.
The man on far right has one of the old style field jackets with the shoulder epaulettes and
no hood rolled up in the collar. Those were highly prized as they looked and fit much better
than the newer style. Had one when I got out and used it for work jacket until it fell apart....
