Herman sent me a link to a string at another site that is interesting relative to a time when Alpha was opcon to Hackworth's battalion and suffered some casualties. What's interesting is Hackworths version of that history in one of his books, Steel My Soldiers Hearts. The Alpha 6/31 CO was relieved after the action, perhaps the only company CO relieved in the history of the 6/31st, but the colonel probably should have suffered the same fate according to what some have told me of that day as far as what happened to Alpha..
