Update with three weeks to go email sent today

This forum was created for information about the very successful first battalion stand alone reunion in June of 2015. It remains to remember the success and perhaps to encourage planning of another such reunion in the future.

Update with three weeks to go email sent today

Postby Niner Alpha » Thu May 14, 2015 2:14 pm

Three weeks from today the 6th of the 31st reunion starts in Branson. Most people sent this email are pretty well up on the details and are set to go but there are a few who could use some last minute information and clarification.

I’ve been getting phone calls and emails from people who are now interested in the Ride the Ducks and Branson Belle dinner cruise after the cutoff date has now come and gone. The Ducks are full and there is no way to join that group leaving from the hotels. The Ducks are done. The only remaining alternative you have at this juncture, if you are presently interested, is to call the Branson Belle ticket office at 1-800-417-7770. Say you want to buy tickets for the June 5, 2015, 4 pm cruise. Buy your tickets direct and when buying ask to be seated with, or as near as possible to, the group. If asked for the group number it is 6THP2035646. Follow whatever instructions they give you for boarding and don’t automatically get in line with the pre-paid group when they line up for tickets at the desk that should be set up for the purpose at the landing. You will have to get to the Branson Belle by POV. However, 22 people have opted to do this in the original prepaid group so you may be able to hitch a ride if you need to do so.

Those who are riding the Ducks and have already paid should meet the Ducks at the reunion hotel where you are staying. If you are staying at the Branson Towers or the Angel Inn by the Strip those are the locations you need to be at 1:45 on June 5th to board the Ducks. One Duck will come to the Angel Inn by the strip and three to the Branson Towers. All who are staying elsewhere should meet the Ducks at the Branson Towers with one exception of a family group of 6 that knows to join the Angel Inn group.

It has been discovered recently that a few people, rather than call the reservation numbers we have been giving for the hotels, have used outside contract sources to secure rooms. This has led to some people reserving rooms at the wrong Angel Inn. The right Angel Inn is the Angel Inn by the strip, 3027 A West 76 County Blvd, and not another Angel Inn. The phone number at the correct hotel is 417-336-5151. Don’t trust the other Angel Inn to transfer the reservation for you if you discover you are at the wrong hotel, as that has been a problem getting them to actually do it reported by one individual.

The Starlite theatre is offering discounted show tickets for Billy Dean or the Texas Tenors by using the group name of 6th Battalion 31st Infantry. $25 plus tax amounts to $55.80 for a couple. That appears to be $10 per ticket cheaper than the walk up price. Several of us have tickets for the Saturday night 7:30 show. It might be fun and I’m going in appreciation for the Theatre letting us use their theatre for our Memorial service on Saturday morning at 10am. Their reservation number is 417-337-9333.

If you haven’t made a reservation there is still time. Call the Angel Inn by the Strip, 417-336-5151 soon. $60 a night plus tax.

There is no “registration fee” like with the 31st Association reunions. All you have to do is show up and meet us at the reunion hotels.

The clock is ticking on the coming of the first and probably last battalion reunion. There will be more 6th of the 31st guys in attendance at this one event than ever before and very likely ever after. Many will be coming to this event that haven’t crossed paths with anyone from the battalion since they came home from Vietnam.

I firmly believe this will be an event to remember for those who attend.
