An email to watch for about the Reunion

This forum was created for information about the very successful first battalion stand alone reunion in June of 2015. It remains to remember the success and perhaps to encourage planning of another such reunion in the future.

An email to watch for about the Reunion

Postby Niner Alpha » Fri Dec 19, 2014 3:01 pm

As has been announced already, Nashville is out as a reunion location. We have shifted our search to Branson, Missouri since that was the second most suggested location in our original poll.

Some information about costs and proposed dates has been obtained and we have two possible venues that are talking to us somewhat seriously. An email has been sent out today to those who have expressed at least some interest in possibly attending a stand alone reunion in order to get some reaction to the change in direction and how acceptable the possible costs to attend would be to those we wish to attract to the event. Please do answer with your feeling about the possibility of your attending so we can get a head count and possibly have a better negotiating position on costs.

We are looking at other possible Branson hotels as possible alternatives. We don't expect to announce anything specific until sometime in January. And... this includes if this reunion is going to be a go or no go based on how much interest there is in this amended location. If we can get a positive response in the neighborhood of the first positive email response of over 100 received for Nashville a few months ago we will lock in a specific hotel location, date and agenda and go all out to promote it, including a campaign to notify a large number of guys without email addresses. If the response is significantly lower than previously we will give up on it as being unlikely to succeed as a "battalion" event.

Being this close to Christmas a lot of guys have other things on their agendas right now and aren't in the mood to even think about it. So far I have gotten only a little over a dozen positive responses. If after entering the new year we can't muster more encouragement we will have come to the end of the road and give up on this project for the coming year. If it comes to this it doesn't mean we can't focus on the lessons learned and perhaps regroup and try again for 2016.
