M1 Carbine

This is a forum for the weapons we knew about. It is also a place for remembering the equipment we carried and how and why we carried what we did.

M1 Carbine

Postby Niner Alpha » Thu Oct 20, 2005 11:13 pm

I remember seeing one in Vietnam belonging to some kind of remp. His was chrome plated on the outside. No infantry company ever had any issued when I was there.... at least as far as I had experience.... or remember. I think I remember the local Vietnamese militia having them though....the ones that were supposed to be friendly.

This one is a Universal copy. The US Army never issued this one. It was a cvilian version that was a copy cat. Used a 30 cal pistol round. Very effective in close combat in WWII according to what is written. Probably would have been good in Vietnam. The Military version had a fully auto copy ... although I don't think all military ones were able to be full auto.

Hi I believe the full auto version of the M1 Carbine was called the M2 Carbine, it had a larger 30 round magazine.
