Monuments and statues

Postby Niner Alpha » Sat Jul 08, 2017 10:16 am

In another post I mentioned the photo of a chunk of concrete somewhere in Vietnam that in June of 1969 memorialized the 3rd Brigade of the 9th as though they were at an end in Vietnam and going home. However, it was premature as the 3rd Brigade stayed for over a year longer and the 6/31st was transferred to that brigade from the 1st Brigade. Today I saw this story about monuments in the US...to old Civil War soldiers that are a hot top now days as they are removed in various big cities and a mention about how monuments and statues are not actually history but something else. The actual subject of this story is a statue that reflects a civil rights episode and a shocking recreation in metal of a photo that surprisingly wasn't as bad as it looked.
