Trump and the Press

How do you think this confrontation will play out?

The media will support any impeachment move by Trump's political enemies no matter what the articles of impeachment are based upon. And ultimately succeed in forcing Trump out of office.

Trump will force the media to tone down their opposition in the face of a public that can see some truth to Trump's being enthusiastically and unfairly maligned no matter what he does.

Trump and the Press

Postby Niner Alpha » Fri Feb 17, 2017 11:40 am

Trump accuses the mainstream media of lies and fabrications of the truth and unfair characterizations of himself and his cabinet. But perhaps he protests too much and it only encourages them to toss more brickbats his way.

Obama was good at using the news media. Many a time and often the talking heads were spreading whatever spin Obama's administration wanted with the footnote... our sources (never named) tell us thus and so. Obama could do no wrong and no push back ever happened no matter what he did.

Sorry...I can't vote for either choice. I believe that the conflict will continue, but I doubt that he will be removed from office...although I wish that he would be. He acts like the spoiled little rich kid bully that he is, and he doesn't appear to know the difference between the truth and a lie. Unless he grows up fast, he will go down as the worst president in our history. I had always hoped for a smart businessman in place of a career politician for president, but this guy is a disaster. There is a lot of difference between working your way up to the position of a successful businessman in commerce, and inheriting an already developed successful commercial real estate empire. Outside of real estate his ventures into casinos have all resulted in bankruptcy. I wish that Romney were in his place.

Here is an example of the story headlines right now on The Guardian. The Guardian is a UK based news source that is well established as a "legitimate" news source. It's not even an American source.. but mirrors a lot of them.

McCain attacks Trump administration and inability to 'separate truth from lies'

Chaos in the White House: 'There's never been anything like this.

Trump's 'one-state' remarks embolden rightwing Zionists – Jewish and Christian

Donald Trump will use every weapon to stamp out the grassroots resistance

Trump's anti-press conference would be funny – if it weren't so scary

Understanding Trump’s narcissism could be the key to opposing him

Why should McCain's rant be considered anything but a left handed editorial? McCain and Trump have been antagonists from the beginning. The " he lies" theme is quite the major attack right now.. although previous lies of Obama got a narrow focus...like "if you like your health care plan you can keep it". When Obama's chief spy testified to congress under oath that the government wasn't spying on personal American communications, when it was proved later a lie, he suffered no serious press pummeling nor calls for a Congressional investigation nor criminal charges. Obama didn't even fire him. Although now, Trumps man gets the full stoning for talking to a Russian Ambassador over Obama Presidential imposed sanctions two weeks before the office is handed over to Trump in what should have been a private communication. He is "fired" because of what he didn't tell the Vice President and leaves in "disgrace" although having risen to such a high rank in the Army he must have had a high sense of honor and responsibility. This must hurt him more than a prison sentence.

"Embolden rightwing Zionists". The two state notion was only lip service for decades. If any former President had meant it they would have held back "aid" to Israel to make it happen. Instead, Obama even gave Israel a raise of several billion dollars only last year. Big money Israel supporters in the US have bought and paid for, with political contributions, both Democrat and Republican sympathy for anything Israel wants or does.

"Narcissism". Any President not suffer from that disease? Take a look at Obama and Bush Junior and remember the White House concerts where big name acts would come to perform for the President and his close circle and fawn over the President. Obama got the Nobel Peace prize and proceeded to drone bomb people in more than a half dozen poor countries. Just because he was feeling elected the most exceptional in the country that is "exceptional" and was "protecting" America.

It's good that the major news sources hate Trump. They won't be sucking up to him and do what the Russian Press has always done for the seat of power in Russian and as many American news sources have done in the past for our Presidents. They may have to do some real adversarial journalism for a change.
