Getting the word out about this site

Postby Niner Alpha » Fri Jun 07, 2002 10:06 pm

So far, I have contacted Karl Lowe of the 31st news letter and asked him to list this site in his next news letter. I have emailed the 31st site webmaster a couple of times and asked for a link. I have emailed the 9th site a couple of times about being added as a link. I have sent an email to just about everybody on the roll call at the 9th site with connections to the 6/31st, some more than once of the emails that are still valid. I have emailed my old friends from Alpha and the 2/4th who, thankfully, have responded. I have made attempts to be considered for addition to several search engines also.

Although it would be excellent if the 9th Site and the 31st Site would add this site as a link, in the long run some previous soldiers who have an interest in visiting here have to both visit and make meaningful posts that provoke something from someone who is wondering about either taking the time to join in or just clicking the door shut. If only a few make an effort to post something every chance they get, people who visit will see that there are signs of life and the site will benefit from it in the long run.

I think this will work in the long run. But it is going to need a lot of help as well as time. If you know some guys from your old company in Vietnam, please tell them about this site and ask them to visit and help get this started.
We now belong to the Octofoil Ring

Maybe this will get us some new viewers. But we really need a helping hand from the 31st site and the 9th site by way of a link. Guess they may be taking a wait and see before adding this site as a link.

Howdy all!
Niner Alpha came and visited our site (Vietnam Veterans and Friends) and I thought I'd reciprocate. Just a suggestion that perhaps you make a forum for guests to sign in.....
I was known as Dustoff 22 in Vietnam........we were headquartered at Long Binh (45th Medical Company Air Ambulance) but heavily supported the 9th during my tour 7/67 through 7/68. We usually based out of Dong Tam, although we would move to Tan An? now and again when some operation was in progress.........hard to remember back that far. But we always had a standby at Dong Tam.
I ended up going back to instruct at the Army's Primary Helicopter Training Center which was then at Fort Wolters, Texas, saw an advertisement from the National Guard Bureau looking for qualified instructors and decided in 1969 that one tour in Vietnam was plenty and went to the Guard in '70 from which I retired in '88. Lots of flying and lots of good memories.
Wish you all well and success with your site! You're all welcome to come over to our site anytime you can. We have a mix of Army/Navy/Marines and civilians who all contribute to some good memories.
Take care
Good to read your post. All of us really know what kind of courage dustoff pilots had. I still wonder at how much skill they had to have had as pilots getting into tight places, at night particularly, with not only trees and such to contend with but with an enemy in close range and often still shooting. Guys like you saved a lot of guys like us to get to be as old as we are now. There are several here that I know needed your services once upon a time and are really glad to have gotten the lift to the hospital.
I am adding a link to your site in the links section. Lots of good posts to read by a real friendly group of board members.
