We in Maryland are committed to finding a photo of every Maryland service
member who died in Vietnam. Of the 1,046 (unofficial)/1,017 (official) who
died in Vietnam, we have located more than 98% of our service members'
photos. We are currently missing 18 photos. One of those photos is of
medic PFC Rudolph Pearson (promoted posthumously to CPL). At the time of
his death (Jan 13, 1969) he was assigned to HHC of the 6/31st. As a result
of his actions he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple
Heart. Does anyone have a photo of Pearson? His death notice in the local
Baltimore Sun had no picture, and the local Afro American (newspaper)
didn't cover his sacrifice at all. If you have a photo, please forward it
to the Department of Public History at Stevenson University
(firstname.lastname@example.org). We are teamed with the Vietnam Veterans of
America (VVA Chapter 451) and Maryland Public Television in an effort to
locate all of our photos by November 11, 2016. As a former combat arms
officer, I extend my thanks to each of you who put your life in harms way
and my heartfelt sympathy for the sacrifices you made of body, mind, and
soul along the way.
This guy was no doubt a medic. Apparently he was killed by a mine or some booby trap. Anybody have any idea what company he was attached to? Nobody has remembered him on our Wall page.
