Interesting problems with Ford Explorer...

4 months ago I bought a 2014 Ford Explorer Sport, it has the 3.5L V-6 Ecoboost engine and 38,000 miles. One of the reasons I got it was the 365hp, twin turbo-charged, faster than I should ever go, engine.... It is really fun to drive. After having it for a couple of months, one day I pulled...

Re: Is the end in sight for the 31st Association?

Maybe part of the slowdown around here is seasonal, most people seem to spend more time doing other thing than sitting at the keyboard in the summer. When winter drives us back indoors there may be more participation, at least I hope so. I check here every day, but most days there is nothing new an...

Maybe a candidate for 'World's Dumbest Criminal'...... Took photos in 2009, still had them on cellphone 3 years later in 2012, and then left phone where it could be found by someone..............DUH.....   But I still doubt if it deserves a year in prison since it didn't seem he ...

Great photos, brings back memories. The lower left photo, why does he have the 9th ID patch on his right sleeve, current unit goes on left side.... 2nd tour maybe?? Upper left photo, rifle on his lap appears to have collapsible stock, short barrel, and large flash suppressor, certainly not standard...

Re: That "free" windows 10 just had an ujpdate

I tried Win 10 for a while on one of my computers, not horrible but not an improvement over Win 7. The worst part was that you couldn't pick and choose your updates, you get them whether you want them or not. The other bad thing was the web browser, Edge I think it is called, but you can easily swi...

I didn't know about the Jewish tradition. "Leaving coins on the headstones of those who served in the Military, especially those who died in combat, dates back at least as far as the Roman Empire." ......From The Military Salute Project webpage. That seems to be the general opinion. But i...

Re: Stuff you see related to Vietnam

I think that is a very common thing at memorials, there is a warehouse full of things that have been left at the black wall VN memorial in DC. Like all the flowers people leave at the scene of a tragedy, I remember on the news all the flowers left outside the palace when Princess Di died. No idea w...

Sorry to hear of her passing. I hadn't been to her web site for several years and decided to look at the photos again. One caught my eye that was taken at a party in the DD's quarters at Dong Tam. The poster on the wall is the 6/31st crest with a Santa hat on the polar bear........... I r...

Re: tricks of the trade back then and a riddle me this

I never worked in FDC, but maybe marking the exact distance between his location and the battery, on the
edge of the sheet of paper and then laying it on the grid lines of the map to see the distance??
Of course, it would depend on the size of the wall map.

Re: Ebay and old military stuff

He may not "suggesting" that it is the compass in your photo, but by lack of explanation, it does seem to imply it's the same compass. Just another typical ebay seller skirting around the details by letting the buyer make assumptions. Have bought over 800 items on ebay and seen all kinds ...

A few more auction losses like that and I will be able to afford it........... And it has also been known to happen that the seller has a friend bid at the beginning of the auction the amount that the seller needs. That appears to be a 9th Div patch in the background, I thought everyone had switched
to the "subdued" black and OD patches by 1968.

The photo caption, "Soldier-in-Vietnam-sheds-tear"... or is it sweat???

Nice flag, but spendy. Looked at a few other things the guy had listed on ebay, but not all, since he has over 10,600 items listed...... This patch caught my eye, the version I remembered is....... We the unwilling, led by the incompetent, to do the unnecessary, for the benefit of no one......
