Re: Who is Urban Miyares?
I posted the following to the YouTube videos and the San Diego article: While we of the 6th/31st, 9th Infantry Division Vietnam would like to congratulate Urban for his outstanding accomplishments as a disabled Vietnam veteran, we must take exception to the fabricated Vietnam experience that he has ...

Re: Who is Urban Miyares?
Hello All, If you do a Google search for Urban Miyares...the first link that will pop up is: "Urban Miyares - San Diego Magazine - September 2008 - San Diego" Both Michael Bennett and I have left comments related to Urban's Vietnam experience claims. I could not find any other "non-Yo...

Re: Who is Urban Miyares?
When you 6/31st Brothers have time, please check out the numerous Urban Miyares videos on YouTube. I have attempted, over the last few years, to make comments under all of his videos that mention his Vietnam experience. If I have missed any....please let me know.

Looks like the "Truth" shook up Urban...he says that he is going to delete the "thread". Guess our 6/31st inputs were upsetting his flock.

Re: Who is Urban Miyares?
The email below was sent to the 539 men on our 6/31st roster for whom we have emails. Some of you men might remember that a few years ago a fellow by the name of Urban Miyares posted to the 6/31st Facebook page a wild tale of his Vietnam experience as he served with the 6/31st. He talked about havin...

Re: I moved the Who is Urban Miyares string
So it appears that somehow a post was made to Facebook concerning his fabricated story. Do you know if it was somehow posted to his Facebook account or if he saw it somewhere else on Facebook. I don't do Facebook but a lot of our men do. Since someone "got his goat" with a post somewhere o...

Re: 50th anneversary January 12th, 1969 Cai Nua
Randy I had many of these same thoughts as I walked the 1st platoon, 2nd platoon and HQ positions during my visit to the Cai Nua battle site in my return to Vietnam in 2011. Luckily Niner had located someone who was able to convert Mac's grid coordinates to Google Earth coordinates thus making it ea...

Re: Passing of "Top" Sergeant Major Floyd Vernon Bennett
I saw Capt Quisenberry only one time at the reunion, and that was when he was getting off the paddle boat that we took across the lake.... BTW: Not sure if you guys are aware or not but Capt Quisenberry has been battling bladder cancer. Another ailment that the VA refuses to recognize as being cause...

Sadly I must inform you men of the passing of another of our Brothers. I will copy/past the notification from his daughter Donna Monds. I have forwarded this notice to all of the Alpha men and several HHC men for whom we have email addresses on our 6/31st roster. "My dad Sargent Major Floyd Ver...

Re: Another 6/31st reunion?
This is very bad news for those planning to attend the reunion and for Charlie Tapp, the reunion coordinator, who I am sure has put a great deal of work into this reunion. The 31st Regiment Association "finally" chose a very nice vacation/resort location for a reunion, and now Mother Natur...

Re: Another 6/31st reunion?
I'll never forget the surprise when men asked if they could at least contribute to the beer/soda/snacks cost and we told them "thank you very much, but we have it all covered". Truly a remarkable event that will never be beaten or even matched. I know that it was quite a task that nearly k...

* The days of the large WWII naval battles have long passed us by; therefore, battleships, cruisers, etc. have not been listed. This information below is about a year old. Military budgets: USA $600B (now over $700B)..$600B was more than than the next 8 countries combined. China: $215B Russia: $66B ...

David Morris - 3rd platoon, Delta Company, 1968-69
Sadly I report the passing of another Brother. "Doc" Sheridan has informed me of the passing of David Morris, March 29, 2017. David carried the M-60 machine-gun in 3rd platoon, Delta Company, 6/31st, 9th Infantry Division, Vietnam 1968-69. I was his Platoon Sergeant in 1969. No one was bet...

Randy.......as you probably already know...Lt Richard Dorn (2nd platoon/1969) visited us for a week in March. He stayed in a nice hotel in My Tho (($50 a night) and my sons and I picked him up each morning on my son's motorcycles to take him around the old AO. You would always be welcome.

3rd party screening
Randy after all these years, after constant prodding by a friend, I finally met with a Vietnam Veteran advocate and he filed a claims form for me. While I was in Vietnam visiting my wife's family my neighbor who was screening my mail for me sent me a scanned copy of several appointments that had bee...

Re: Memorial Day
I agree with you Niner......sadly 59,000 died for nothing. When you read the Pentagon Papers you see that Johnson and McNamara knew as early as 1965 that we could not win the war, but they were looking for an "honorable peace". By 1965 we had lost ~2,300 men....therefore we lost another ~5...

He weighed right at 200 lbs...I had estimated that he would have weighed much more (at least 250)...these Texas Hill Country hogs are long and lean. The tales of all those 300 lbs hogs are mostly just that...."tales". Most were estimates and were never weighed. Yes...there are a few 300 lb...

Re: Viet Cong Reunion
As we know, the War experiences of a Combat Soldier and a REMP (or REMF as they were known to those in combat :D ) were two worlds apart; however, I never expected the very large difference, as it relates to the War, that I have discovered over the last ~50 years, between the Vietnamese people who l...

Re: Viet Cong Reunion
I actually met such a "turn-coat" Tiger Scout at this last reunion. My Wife told me that after we had left Vinh Kim, using his position of having been a Tiger Scout, he gained access to one of the small ARVN outposts near Vinh Kim. Later that night he opened the gate to the VC and they kil...
