Re: Vietnam war 9th Infantry Division reenactment from Italy
Wow! That's an impressive collection. Not sure that I'll ever have that much stuff...this is an expensive hobby. I do get most of my stuff from eBay. Is any of your stuff reproduction?

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
Another question just came to mind...as I look through pictures from the war I notice something about most of the grunts pants pockets. Most of the cargo pockets on the sides of the pants seem to be full...as if they were stuffed with something. What was it most guys carried in those pockets?

Re: Vietnam war 9th Infantry Division reenactment from Italy
Man I have to say...y'all's stuff is legit! It certainly looks like you've put a lot of time and effort into what you guys are doing. We certainly hope that our unit can get to where you guys are. If you don't ming me asking, where do you guys find most of your gear and uniforms?

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
Thanks guys! Love reading the stories you guys have...great feedback too. Like I said, I don't always carry everything in the picture...just put it all in there as a display of what I have. Most of the time I don't use the bayonet, flashlight, or pistol holster. I do have a bandoleer that I use and ...

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
We all pretty much use the basic web gear load...buttpack, 2 canteens, 2 ammo pouches, suspenders, and the compass/bandage pouch. After that we customize it I guess you could say...it's up to us. I don't always carry all of that, but I have all of it just in case. What I carry depends on what we're ...

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
I figured it would be a fairly light load...which is what I'll usually carry in my pack. As for my entire set of web gear...it's a load, as you can see below. While we do our best to emulate what the 6/31 did in 'Nam, we also give the general look of a solider in Vietnam, which was usually loaded do...

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
What kind of "stuff" would you carry with you on patrol? I know some of the stuff that would be carried, but I want to know just about everything. I do not have a ruck...just a M61 field pack that goes on my web gear...not very big. What kind of stuff would I need to carry in it to accurat...

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
Great pics of the pants! Thanks! I actually found a pair on eBay that I was able to snag for a great price. My size was hard to find...seems like most of you guys were pretty small back then. A large was not easy to find! Ha!

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
Frags... I've noticed a mix of M26 and M67 frag grenades in the pics in the photo section. I'm going with M67s for my gear. Do any of you remember exactly how they looked color-wise? All I can really see in the pics is that the frag part was OD green. What color were the spoons? Were they also green...

Sounds good to me. Thanks! I just want to make sure they pass the test. We don't want to use anything that doesn't accurately represent that time period.

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
So I'm in the process of putting my uniform together, and I've figured out that a pair of pants for that time period are very difficult to come across, for a reasonable price at least. So for now I'm looking at going with a pair of reproduction pants...something that looks very similar to the origin...

Yup, lots of my friends from high school either work at Chevron or the ship yard. My parents' house wasn't leveled, but got about 5 feet of water. Was not a fun time.

Re: 6/31 Reenactment/Living History Group Questions
Now that you say it, I actually see several differences in the detail. I looked and can't find any of the original patches. I'm sure they are hard to find and expensive as well. I'm okay with using the bogus ebay patches, as long as you think it's okay with those that served in the unit. Certainly d...

As far as the company patch goes...I see the one you posted has blue trim. All the ones I've found online have red. Do you know anything about this?
