Past company commanders

Vietnam veterans, I don't know how many of you know about an historian who's a former company commander that was assigned to our unit back when the 6/31st first arrived in-country. That person was Capt. Grady Smith who is now carrying on as the 31st Regiment's historian. You can view his auto-biogra...

Please pass it on to any and all other Veterans who might be seeking service connected aid, to contact Vet Centers in their area or veteran organizations. The assistanc...

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

Randy, Now what did I tell you on what to expect from Dawn!. She doesn't want details as to what actually happened, but what how we saw things and what went through our heads on being in-country. Our feelings, deep emotional as they may be, has to documented by the veteran. It will pull you apart, g...

Nurses

Here's something of interest for all of you who earned that Purple Heart, and w/o that time spent in an Evac. Hospital or some sort of medical attention you might or might not have made it home from Vietnam. I'm speaking of those Army Nurses & Doc's who cared for you once you were medevac'd; luc...

Randy, Good to hear you've made some headway with Dawn, even if it's only your 1st or 2nd visit with her. She knows how and will search out your "trigger points" in getting at your issues, even to the point of possibly having your 'best friend' show up for an interview. First few sessions ...

Another "pointman" here, Been doing random check on Niner's site and after hearing about Victor Charlies 'body count' last night during our chat session I decided to check back with the forum. I'm observing a hell of a lot more activity now than in the past on Robert's site since PBS is sh...

Randy, Just wanted to say that I hope your VA appointment this coming 9/29 works out. Also, don't get your hopes too high as to what you might be hearing. Just because of what you should be obtain for C & P to what you will receive are 2 different issues. From what you now expect as a "serv...

Charlie,

Finally go to looking for that CD of Delta Co. that Robert Hill sent me. Larry, Hai (Tiger Scout) & Lt. Hill are showing us at Nha Be outside our so-called 'bunker' that was put together in about 1 day.
Not sure if you would remember Larry, but glad to post his photo.

Randy, First of all, it's good you're seeking help as a 1st time VA user. I'm surprised it's taken this long in seeking some advise, but at least you've come to 'one' of the right places. I myself am dealing with the Livingston Cty, Veteran Services. Luckily I'm able to work through their Service Of...

That's the way to do it, Jerry, with a wife who knows the Vietnamese & knowing the culture. Could be looking into a trip myself this year as I've checked out a tourist agency, but they want you to sign up for a group trip. Not ready to do that as half the stuff I'm not interested in, i.e. milita...

Another fallen comrade

I just learned that we've lost another member of our Company to cancer on July 22nd of this year, that being Larry Essenburg of Holland, MI. I had the chance to visit with Larry and his wife Connie sometime ago where he expressed his wishes to not maintain contact with any of his Vietnam buddies. Ov...

Immersion Foot was affecting the troops so much as to see an increase in Sick Call from painful, swollen feet and the discomfort of trying to hump the bush. In order to heal we had to dry-out our feet. Some of us had it so bad that they hat to cut their boots off or walk barefoot to the Aid Station ...

Niner and Jerry, Now that you're receiving or have received more money than you expected to cover the post card issue I would expect that you might need it again for further P.C. mailings. One of the ongoing events this weekend is the AVC Conference being held in Washington, .C. This past weekend I had the opportunity to join fellow anglers at a famous 100 yr. old log cabin lodge. The place is known by Wa Wa Sum that's located on the Au Sable River in Grayling, MI. We were there to not only do some fishing, but to watch a well known fly tier (Jerry Regan) and also see a de...
