Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

Randy, for me it changed my life immediately. To be able to sit with a Doctor and find and touch emotions that are in me from combat has been a life saver. I am not the same guy from 3 years a go, it's hard to explain I guess, for me the VA has been a wonder. They listen to you, their observations o...

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

I am very happy that you are moving forward in this inner battle. I go along Randy thinking Iam really cleaning up my emotions and stuff, then bang, Iam right back there, right in the middle of some incident. It is very hard for me to get rid of Nam, just really hard for me. Also the VA does not wan...

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

I guess in my case Randy, I was pretty well messed up, so much so, that I was classified inside of 45 days and put on this program called The Fast Trac for Nam combat vets. They also had notes from me freaking out in a hospital, I was in the middle of dreams of ambushes I had set, they thought the p...

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

I am so grate full to be able to hear another Nam soldier talking about their battles in their mind from this war!
My contribution to this situation is small, I hope your ending to this will be as good as mine ended up, that,s for sure! May GOD keep you through this time, you certainly are owed it!

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

I wanted to say, went to the VA the other day, have a sore on the top of my head, sometimes bled, also have a hole on the back of my left foot. you know the VA, they say I have to go to the VA in Miami, so far they won't tell me what is wrong, go Tuesday for more tests. Guys, remember any weird thin...

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

You know Randy, reading your account so far, I just realized how much the war changes every pore in your body and mind! You are right, it started on you right from the beginning, that bus trip into hell, at times so insane, just hard to sort out! I hope you keep plugging, one thing I have learned fr...

Randy, was really happy to know that you went, Ron is a stand up fellow who still looks out for his fellow soldiers! Good things shall come out from this I know, never thought any one would help me, but when I took that step, it happened! I know I don't have all the info such as Ron, but I hope I pu...

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

Some really good advice from Ron, I was lucky in that I had gone to a Vet Center in Ft. Myers because of dreams and some other mental issues, got to know this Marine from the Gulf War, did not know he was a psycho Doc. from the VA. After maybe 4-5 talks with him, somehow I was talking about an ambus...

You know I think I remember him, then a blank. Just not sure, I hope he was ok after the war, most of us weren't ok, that's for sure! Thanks for the info Ron, can't really say I remember him.

Re: Another fallen comrade

Robert, that is him, that is him, wow! What really bothers me is the way the war ended, how we were treated for many years after we came home, all for nothing! After Tet, the American Army, with air power, could have won it!!! It is so sad.

Yes, I re-enlisted for 4 years, more interested in the money as you can imagine. But the thing is, I saved, and saved, and two years after I got out, bought into a strip club in DC called the GOOD GUYS. I must say it was probably the most fun I had in my life! This is why I have been married 5 times,...

Re: Another fallen comrade

I just wanted to talk about William Harp, he was I think the last soldier killed in D CO. We were standing on some dikes, the birds were in bound for us to make another CA., I was maybe 4 ft. from him, he had a radio on his back, then he just fell down! We thought he had a heart attack, they would n...

Hey Now, what happened to me I went before a Judge in DC, it was the second time I was to see him for stealing cars. He told me he was going to give 18 months in prison, orrrrrrrrrrr, and he let me stand there for a bit, freaking out, and finally he said would your dad sign you out of school into th...

I got put into the Army when I just turned 17. I was going to get 2 years for stealing cars, but they said I could do 2 years in the Army. Sometimes after firefight in the jungle, I would wonder if I did the right thing, ha ha ha

Re: Awards that weren't actually awarded but entitled to buy

You know, I did get another Air Medal from the 1st. Cav. and you are so right about humping up north! I did not like the jungle, we walked right into them many times. I carried so much weight, I had to put my 16 on the ground and use it to help me to stand up. Carried 10 quarts of water, about 25- 3...

Glad you are going for it. Same thing happened to alot of Nam Vets, after the war they did not want to talk to you. When I tell people they don't believe me, I never went back for years and years! This site helped me alot, talking about the ACV incident was the begining of me getting the help I need...

Geez, remember all the CA"S we did? We had more than 1 Air Medal, that is for sure, some days we made 4 to 5 looking for trouble. Only big shot Officers got the real goodies.

Re: 1st time VA user - Need help.

Any Vet center would have someone there who can help you. They are looking for Nam Vets, with your purple heart you I think, will be getting help right away. I am blessed that I went to the VA, saw a pysco DR. and they helped right then, she knew how to get me right back in Nam in my mind. I hope yo...

Ron, as always thanks for talking to me, I will check out the photos and see if I remember him. While I am in the site, I want to tell all the soldiers to check in with the VA if they have not. I am blessed that they tell me I am 130 per cent fried. 100 percent PTSD, 30 per cent Agent Orange symptom...

Just wanted to say the VA has said I am 100% PTSD, and it has been very difficult dealing with this stuff. I also want to say the VA I'm going to has been above board in everything they do for me, can say I'm blessed and hope the fellas on this site dealing with it are getting the help they need!

On my trip to DC, I went out to view my Dad and brother Tom's graves at Arlington National Cemetery. What surprised me was that I was able to pay my respect to our CO's grave, Karl Lowe. I was so stunned to know that they are all very close together. Karl does not have a headstone yet, at least when...

Speaking of River Operations, and combat, you guys might be interested in a book called The Boys of '67 by Andrew Wiest. Its put out by Osprey Books, and for all who fought in the Delta, I think you may find it interesting. The author weaves in personal account of the fellows in the unit, plus tells...

Re: An appeal for records correction of awards

You know, after I read that article about record correction, I think all of us in D Co. earned more Air Medals than we received. I sure remember going all day on sweeps, going in 4-5 times a day. Am I right that one CA was one sweep? How was one able to keep track of them all?
