Alpha Company Guidon

When the 6th of the 31st battalion pulled out of Ben Luc headed for deactivation, Ron Madewell was in the back of a deuce and a half and noticed the Alpha guidon still waving outside of the company HQ. He resolved that the Arvins weren't going to get it so he jumped out of the truck and rescued it. ...

Re: Dennis Harry Moss, Charlie Company 1969

We are back in touch. Good to see you are now making some progress getting your dad's DSC nomination resubmitted with the added help of a now found witness who had signed the original witness statements.

Re: Know anybody in this photo?

Moss ended up an E6. This may be some HQ outfit at maybe the brigade level. Can't tell for sure but a good percentage don't seem to have CIB's.

But SSgt Moss was a real hero. He earned a DSC and a boat load of other medals.

Know anybody in this photo?

Third from left top row is Dennis Moss. He served in Charlie company end of 68 and for sometime in 69. At one juncture he became a sniper ..and a highly decorated one judging from his obituary. This may have been the Sniper School as a guess or...not. Anybody shed any light on where this was, who el...

Re: Here's and idea that needs some editing

Thursday night we had two new voices on the Skype chat. Both were from Alpha. One from the original Ft. Lewis boys. One from late 69 until October 1970. Neither had ever been to a reunion before, neither the 31st Association, which both belonged to, or at the Branson stand alone non Association affi...

Re: Here's and idea that needs some editing

Ok ...the above idea is long and winded and reminds me of a scene in which Archie tells Edith to "stifle" at some point. Here is at least an improvement: Alpha Company, 6th Battalion of the 31st Infantry, 9th Division ring any bell with you? I hope so. You’re name is on the Alpha Roster I ...

I want to send a message out to Alpha guys in a mass email. This is the too long version I know.... but the problem is I have to sell myself before I can sell anybody else and this long screed is the result of the process of selling myself on an idea. In any case, if you have nothing better to do he...

West Point grad at FT. Drum gets OTH discharge

Thanks for responding Mike. I know someone, 6th of the 31st guy, who got one recently from somebody he knows. He has no idea of the history. He doesn't know how it got into the US or when. But....since it has no safety on it then it either entered the US as a trade item before 1968 or could have bee...

Kodak instamatic

The Kodak instamatic was the camera of the Vietnam War for the soldiers at the pointed end of the spear. They were cheap....less than $20. Made between 1962 and 1970, they could be dunked in a river and be dried out, reloaded and were good to go again. There was no light meter. There was no built-in...
