No doubt they give a free page to all and sundry because they can get information back that they can make money off of and they have been very successful in doing so. Nobody with any degree of adult awareness should be surprised what they know, or think they know about you, if you have a facebook pa...

Battle of Chosin in Korean war
I recorded for later viewing The Battle of Chosin on American Experience produced by PBS. You can see it online if you give money to PBS or have another video on demand source that shows it. I watched it the other night. It documents how the 1/31st and 2/31st were part of Taskforce Faith that were s...

Del Bumann recorded the event and had shared it with this site for members of the battalion passing by could see them. Hard to believe it all stared for the battalion in Vietnam half a century ago.

Re: Half a century ago today 6/31st landed in Vietnam
Mike McConnell, Charlie Company, was there and posted this memory on his facebook page April 4, 2018. Mike McConnell 50 years ago today I was in Guam on my way to Vietnam. Dr. King was assassinated while I was on Guam however I did not learn about it until 12 to 15 hours later when I first arrived i...

Half a century ago today 6/31st landed in Vietnam
On this date the 6th of the 31st landed in Vietnam April 4th 1968 US time or maybe April 5th Vietnam time. Wonder if the Regiment Association will make note of it at the next reunion?

Here's an idea about recording your reunion memories
I've got a lot of photos from Branson 2015. The other day I got an offer for 70% off for a hard cover photo album with 20 pages and however many photos I could put onto them. Well.... it's not like I really was thinking about it, but it did occur to me that with all my reunion photos digital they al...

The trophy
Jerry White bought it with money out of his own pocket years ago after thinking about how a lot of us, first gathered at my fledgling website, worked on the first real battalion reunion. It all started with the idea of getting as many found guys as possible in contact again, in one place, for the he...

Their website is still stuck on pause. It's still there.... surprisingly enough. However, it advertises the 2016 reunion still.

Re: In the news a hundred years ago today
Wilson is dithering over what to do. The Russians are attempting to come to some peace with Germany, which is grabbing as much former Russian influence territory as they can in spite of fumbling peace negotiations. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of prisoners held in Russia are being set fre...

Re: In the news a hundred years ago today
As the plot thickens a hundred years ago today, it's looking like some new storm clouds in the war that would soon envelope the 31st Regiment...although they don't know it yet. However, Billy Sunday, the Babe Ruth to the later day Billy Graham's Mickey Mantle, gets the major focus of the front page ...

At the time, the 31st Regiment didn't know it was going to Russia..... but the ball had started to roll.

Ugh... looks like they got not only false press but a damming press after fighting completely out numbered for eight straight days under awful weather conditions.

Re: Ashes and the Wall
I think, if it were up to me, I'd like my ashes scattered at my favorite fishing reef or another place where I have happy memories. Then again, if my wife should go first, that notion would likely change to a lot in a cemetery to be more conventional... like keeping the socks paired up or the spoon ...

Ashes and the Wall
Saw this story in the local paper. Guy promised his brother shortly before he died that he would take his ashes to the Wall in Washington and leave them. The park service collects whatever is left there...all sorts of stuff.....including ashes of dead veterans left there. Only now.... enough is enou...

The 6th of the 31st served in two different Brigades
When the battalion got to Vietnam it was assigned to the 1st , Recondo, Brigade. Then in the summer of 69, when the 1st and 2nd Brigades pulled out the battalion was transferred to the 3rd , Go Devil, Brigade because it hadn't been in country long and traded places with some battalion in the 3rd Bri...

Sammy L. Davis was an artilleryman in Charlie battery, 2nd Battalion, 4th Artillery. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during an incident in 1967 while serving in the 9th Division. He is going to participate in the coin toss at the Super Bowl this Sunday between the Patriots and the ...

Trumps State of the Union
Most of the talking heads on TV....the ones that I watched at least... made note of how Trump does better when he sticks to the script and doesn't come off as a shoot from the lip lout. He got an A for not playing to his usual first thing that pops into his head rhetoric. That was commendable for su...
