Re: Military Budget?

So in the last few days, Trump has thrown more sanctions on the back of Russia because a former turn coat Russian spy got high tech assassinated in England. And that wasn't enough pot stirring so he turned around and put some hard sanctions on the Turks...who were supposed to be our friends in the &...

Ron Madewell E5 Alpha Oct 69 to Oct 70

Ron has talked to us on the Skype a couple times recently. However, he has more recently lost his home in California due to the fire storms. Haven't heard from him since he had to evacuate the area of Shasta. Maybe he will make it back to the Skype soon to tell us how he is making out. There is a Sk...

Military Budget?

They ought to put the military industrial state on a budget. But.... it is politically popular to be strong on defense. The only problem is that much of it is just pissing away money on toys that are unnecessary, or in the case of that expensive Air Force fighter, that has been sucking up money for ...

The fires in California touch one our own

Ron Madewell. E5 Alpha 69/70 lost his home in that fire in Northern California this week. He's got another place where he can live luckily, but obviously he has lost much. There are other guys from California that may subject to the same fate. Keep them in mind.

Discrimination

Saw this story where a restaurant tried to drum up business on Sunday by offering a 20% discount to people who show a Church bulletin. No doubt this happens all over the US . I've seen it happen in my neck of the woods fairly regularly. It's just an attempt to drum up some business for the restauran...

Re: Know anybody in this photo?

Update on the photo: Hi Robert - Thought I’d give you an update on that photo you posted on the forum. Someone pointed out the gentleman in the far left of the back row was a LTC or Major…..I zoomed in and think I can read enough letters on his name tag that it could be Gary Chittester. Gary took ov...

Russian interference in the US political system

The media has their shorts in a wad over it. The war hawks in Congress...John McCain etc., are all turning red in the face..pun intended..... and demanding all sorts of Annie Get Your Gun things. The Democrats are loudly in the chorus, as they have always been...see Hillary and Bill too. How about a...

Re: Branson Ride the Ducks tragedy

After the lawyers get through with the Ride the Ducks in Branson I got a feeling there will be no more Ride the Ducks in Branson.... and maybe anywhere else. What I want to know is how is it that there are so many franchises? We got them in Mobile. How many of those things from probably WWII can sti...

Re: Branson Ride the Ducks tragedy

From a news video somebody made with their phone it looked like the windows were closed and the bow end was being washed over. If the Duck went down with the windows closed it would have been difficult to escape I'd imagine. The entrance and exit was to the rear with steps that would drop down. Here...

Alpha Company Guidon

When the 6th of the 31st battalion pulled out of Ben Luc headed for deactivation, Ron Madewell was in the back of a deuce and a half and noticed the Alpha guidon still waving outside of the company HQ. He resolved that the Arvins weren't going to get it so he jumped out of the truck and rescued it. ...

Re: Know anybody in this photo?

Moss ended up an E6. This may be some HQ outfit at maybe the brigade level. Can't tell for sure but a good percentage don't seem to have CIB's.

But SSgt Moss was a real hero. He was put in for a DSC and a boat load of other medals that he actually received.

Third from left top row is Dennis Moss. He served in Charlie company end of 68 and for sometime in 69. At one juncture he became a sniper ..and a highly decorated one judging from his obituary. This may have been the Sniper School as a guess or...not. Anybody shed any light on where this was, who el...

Re: Here's and idea that needs some editing

Thursday night we had two new voices on the Skype chat. Both were from Alpha. One from the original Ft. Lewis boys. One from late 69 until October 1970. Neither had ever been to a reunion before, neither the 31st Association, which both belonged to, or at the Branson stand alone non Association affi...
